A Promise Continued...

October continued to be a wonderful month :) I continued to venture to Peterborough to voluteer at Queen Elizabeth Public School, work at Christian Horizons and visit with friends in the community.

At Christian Horizons, I am part of a team. As a team, everyone contributes to the family :) We share our strengths and we grow in our weaknesses. We meet each month to discuss the happenings of the house, the people we serve and the business aspect of our job. We begin each meeting with a devotional. I am quiet. I don't enjoy speaking in front of others. I almost made it. Here is what I wrote...

...When Lori asked me to do the devotion this week, my first thought was I almost made it. I almost made it through my time at House 1 without having to speak in front of everyone, because that is not my strength.

God is funny that way – He knows our hearts and he challenges us. I began thinking of what I could share with everyone here, what I could teach or remind us of… what I am learning right now…

I have a friend named Josiah. He is continuously teaching me. He is four years old. I love children, and I especially love this little boy. The times I spend with him are filled with laughter, energy, toys and conversation. He is a normal four year old boy. We play, we get dirty, we nap. But these are the times I remember. We read Bible stories together and he tells me about his friend Jesus. We have silly conversations but also deep ones. He tells me about Heaven and his baby brother who one day he will meet. He reaches out this hand in the hopes that you will reach out and connect with him. He loves me with a million hugs and kisses. He loves to take pictures. This is his most recent.

A picture of a rock. So simple. Yet, this is my most recent lesson/reminder from him.

2 Samuel 22:31-33 (New International Version)

31 "As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him.
32 For who is God besides the LORD ?
And who is the Rock except our God?
33 It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.

This is my heart right now. I am learning to have faith like a child. To believe in God but also to believe Him; To believe His Word and to trust Him in the mountaintops and the valleys. To know that His hand is always outstretched to mine; that he longs for me His child to reach back. Life is full of uncertainties yet there is one thing that we can be certain of. If our foundation is in Jesus and we are truly living a life for Him, we are standing on solid ground. He is indeed the rock on which we stand.

I am being challenged in my every days. To know God a little bit better today than yesterday.

Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

...

October was also filled with family and many friends :) The women's group at my home church in Whitby went on a beautiful weekend filled with laughter, love and wise words. We celebrated my Granny's 80th birthday and my 24th birthday. A Cambridge visit was had! Hockey and food, always a good time! Jeff bought a house. Arlene and I joined Extreme Fitness in Pickering :) I began working with Christian Horizons in Ajax. Youth group friends reunited for a fun-filled night of conversation, movies and a little sleep-over :)

The rest of my month and the beginning of November was spend in the wonderful land of Saskatchewan :) Melissa greeted me with a yelp and a skip in the airport! I met some very wonderful people, watched movies, played basketball, baked cookies and ate cookie dough :) Re-discovered my love for paper mache, played some foozeball, had many moments of sleepiness and restfulness! Proposed, made Tim Hortons and McDonalds runs... it was a wonderful and beautiful visit and I was welcomed and feel very blessed by the people I encounted :) I feel inspired to become a WOAH MAN of God!

November began with almost staying in Saskatchewan as I almost missed my flight because of a search for dinner in a town that Tyler, Melissa and I were unfamiliar with.. adventures were had! It wouldn't have been a horrible thing, as my visit was great!! But I do enjoy being home as the snow only started to fall this afternoon, unlike the snow that began to fall the day after I left. It was cold there!! November was welcomed with a dinner with friends, my first meeting with the WBC woman's committee and a fun-filled night of mini-putt and dessert :) A Bible Study started at WBC that I am attending, Believing God by Beth Moore - looking forward to it! I started voluteering at my old elementary school. It's weird to be back, but I am greatly enjoying being back in a classroom. Children are funny, and grade seven girls make me smile :)

Kingston also made me smile, or rather, Erin and Sarah Queen of Canada.. Dawn and I went to Kingston last weekend to see the sights, celebrate Sarah's birthday and enjoy the presence of our dearly missed friends. It was grand!! Campus Crusaders, maneuvering around Kingston, seeing Sandra :), a surprise gathering for Sarah and a very welcoming church!

This brings me to this week :) FINALLY!! A constant question in these past hours has been, why did I start a blog... or rather why did I tell certain people about it ;) But, I do enjoy it, and I love writing :) I should do it more often!

This week has been wonderful! I have spent quality moments with Anna, Josiah and Elijah :) A wonderful friend, a beautiful four year old and the cutest six month old that I know! The gym is now my friend. Arlene started her job as a Grade One Teacher! :D The voluteering continues to go well, and I am starting to get to know the people at my workplace in Ajax - Carlo, Harry, Daphne, Michael and Colin. It's already a wonderful experience :)

Good night... zzz
A Promise finished :)
